Scandinavian Escape: Getting the hell out of the U.S. for 2 weeks 👏🏻

Departing Saturday August 12th—> Arriving Sunday August 13th in Stockholm, Sweden. Let’s fucking goooo ✈️

  • Sweden
  • Denmark
  • Norway
  • Finland
Hostels vs hotels- hostels for the win when solo traveling 🙌🏻 Meeting like-minded people to explore with is the best part about staying in a hostel. Making new adventure seeking friends is part of the excitement.
Tampa to Dallas flight delayed by 2 hours. A clear sign to begin self induced intoxication at 10AM on a Saturday morning. Dallas to Europe is a 10 hour flight, I’ll be adding the Valium and other various sedatives soon to ensure a peaceful rest during my journey over whatever oceans are between there and the U.S. (I really should have paid better attention in high school geography class…)
“Drunk on a plane” is not just a country song folks…
First time on Finnair. Wow. This may be a nicer airline than Emirates and they are phenomenal. So far, everyone is friendly and accommodating and handing out blankets and tiny tiny pillows for comfort. 9hr 25 min flight from Dallas, TX to Helsinki, Finland. After that, a short hop over to Stockholm, Sweden on a 1 hr flight so that my adventures can begin. 😬
Passport control asked A LOT of questions. I was mostly honest, but that doesn’t come naturally when being interrogated as to why I’ve left the U.S. and am entering their country for ‘holiday’. I was like, so you not want my U.S. tourist dollars? So after a staring contest the guard stamped my passport and let me pass.
Layover in Helsinki, Finland…where I had my first Scandinavian gourmet meal (see below..)
Who knew you could do some much with a wiener?
Gourmet, hot dog. I feel like I’m back in Iceland- hot dogs are a big thing there. The hot dog also seems to be a sort of delicacy here in the Nordic..
