Stockholm, Sweden: Day Uno…(the Nordic folk let me into their country..I’m just as shocked as you are…)

August 13,2023- I’ve arrived. I was not stopped at border patrol. I was not made to go through customs. I was literally allowed to just prance into this country carrying anything I wanted. This has never happened to me before. At the very least, one extensive pat down and/or strip searching or detainment by numerous security guards is ALWAYS performed. I guess I may just fit right in here and so maybe I stay and become Swedish? I have a couple more days to think that one through but so far, it’s a promising prospect.

Had to take some sort of speedy train from the airport into downtown Stockholm. Then ended up at Central station. From there, it was about a mile trek, luggage in tow, to the hostel. Finally arrived at 3PM local time, and checked in. I was put in a co-ed dorm room (bunk beds, both male and female mix)- however, there are 4 men in the room…and me. I’m slightly outnumbered. Doesn’t much matter because we’ve become friends in the last 20 minutes and will be touring the city tonight together. One is from Kentucky, U.S. and the others are from Vienna here in Europe. The hostel is clean and trendy, definitely one of the better ones I’ve stayed in for sure! It’s called The Generator Stockholm.

Sweden has its own currency. I THOUGHT it was part of the Euro. Wrong. The Swedish Krona (kr) is local currency in the country. And everything is expensive as shit here.
I hope I’m going the right way…everything but the word ‘Stockholm’ is in Swedish so at this point I’m playing ‘Where’s Waldo’.
Central station is in the city center and is chocked full of shops and eats and of course, numerous modes of public transportation. So handy, when an Uber for an 8 minute trek costs over 800kr (Swedish Krona)= roughly $75 US dollars. Hell to the NOPE.
The Generator Hostel, downtown Stockholm.
I mean, maybe this is a valid solution. I’m not one to judge.
Of course. Only in Europe so you find the most entertaining and original shops. Well done, people folk of Sweden.
Downtown Stockholm. It’s purrrrrty.
It’s so artsy here…
Found a park. In the middle of the city.
Think Manhattan, Central Park.
Was peacefully minding my own business when this ginormous leaf feel on me. Gosh, have I missed seasons 💕
