Dubai, U.A.E. Saturday July 7th Today, I embarked on a desert safari through the Arabian Desert. You can’t comprehend heat in the desert in the hottest time of the year. Breathing is a difficult task. I ate Arabic dates. They looked like large roaches, but they’re not. As far as I know. They’re super good.
I went dune bashing in a 4×4, quad biking up/down the dunes, rode a camel for a few minutes until the sun became too much to handle and I felt my skin begin to melt, watched traditional belly dancing & fire shows, and ate authentic Arabic BBQ (the meat looked like chicken, but definitely was NOT chicken and I have no idea what I ate..). I highly recommend this experience. I met a few awesome people from Morocco, Brazil, and Ecuador. Overall, top notch experience…only, avoid the summer months!
Toured the city of Abu Dhabi & one last time through Dubai. The Emirates Mall is obscene and endless. Wear your best most supportive shoes, and be pre-warned that exits to leave the mall are like miles apart. MILES.
The entire U.A.E is expensive, understand that whatever your budget is, you will spend more. Take a taxi versus an Uber. If nearby, definitely take the metro as it is significantly less expensive and links the entire city. And it’s soooooooo much easier than the metros in other countries. And in English, added bonus 👍🏻
Sunday July 8th DXB International Airport From the time of arrival, to the time it takes to hike to your designated gate…lets just say, leave several hours. From the immigration area to the gate, it was a 55 minute trek. You will surely be sweating once you reach your destination. It is now time to depart the U.A.E and head to South Africa. First stop, Johannesburg, for two days. Then after exploring a bit, going through Soweto, I will be headed to Zimbabwe and Zambia for a few days to enjoy another wonder of the word; Victoria Falls.
FYI: Emirates serves FREE ice cream all throughout the airport. Unlimited. So be sure to stop at one of the kiosks during your journey through the airport and take full advantage of this FREE treat.
