Next Stop: Copenhagen, Denmark (& you’re never gonna believe what week it is while I’m here- FUCKING.PRIDE 🏳️‍🌈)

August 17, 2023: A one hour Norwegian Air flight from Stockholm, Sweden to Copenhagen, Denmark and BOOM- country #47 here I am 🇩🇰

OBVIOUSLY, you have been ☺️

Much to my, extremely and cosmically suspicious surprise, it is PRIDE week here in Copenhagen! The streets are lined with rainbow everything- flags and signs and paintings and just, it’s overwhelming support for the LGBTQ+ community. The love for PRIDE here in Denmark is beyond evident and obvious. I feel so welcome in this country 💕

Delighted to see this upon arrival at the downtown central train station 🏳️‍🌈
Every, and I mean EVERY, business is supporting PRIDE. My heart is so full.
🙏🏼 In case you may not be aware, there are NUMEROUS countries that are supporting, creating laws, and fighting to invoke the death penalty for same-sex human interaction. It’s better to know than to stay ignorant- know what you support, know why you support it, no matter where you live or are from. Education and understanding is powerful.
Just love. Every human. Why is that so difficult? 🫶🏻
Not one human is better than another. I believe that to my core, my soul. Every single human is on this earth for a purpose, open your mind and just think about that- why would or should they be or have the same purpose as YOU? 🤔
In the USA, we have what’s called ‘The Trevor Project’ to help protect and prevent LGBT+ teenagers and children from suicide. 3/11, that’s 1 too many of our community turning to suicide due to fear and unacceptable by the general community and most impactful- by those closest to them, like family and friends. We need to be the change guys, spread love…do it unconditionally. For the sake of your fellow humans ✌🏻
Arrived in the town square just in time for the drag queen finale! Epic crowd and energy oh my…🌈
Nobody here is shy, that’s for sure. Loving this vibe!
The PRIDE events go from morning til midnight! The streets were still packed when I left at 11:30PM to go back to the hostel and continue the party vibes 👏🏻

The trek from the airport, to the train, to downtown Copenhagen, then the 960km walk with my luggage in tow to finally arrive at my hostel, that wasn’t the most fun activity I’ve ever done. Upon arrival, the hostels bar was packed and the spirits were flowing, at 2PM in the afternoon. Only one isssue- the reception desk announced that the check-in system was malfunctioning and no one could be processed for at least another half hour. What to do? Obviously, I’m in a hostel bar- drinking was the logical option. They have hard cider on tap, again, another delightful surprise! Chugged one down, that walk had me parched. The second, that one I savored the sweet cider. After that, the reception girl called me over, we spoke a bit, she asked me if I was Canadian. I inquired; “is it because I’m so nice?” She said, “yes, that’s absolutely why”. I informed her to keep my secret but I am in fact just a very nice AMERICAN. After we flirted for a solid ten minutes, she offered me free postcards, a free towel, and another drink. Loving this city, the people, and vibe already and I’ve been here a whole two hours.

Who’s idea was it to leave me unsupervised?!
Hard cider here is HARD. Damn, two of those and I was feeling invincible. Ha!
🥰
Late night hostel party time and impromptu karaoke with new friends 💕
