Luxor, Egypt

I was up at 4AM in the morning yesterday, to catch a flight from Cairo to Aswan. I’m not a morning person, so that hour was very new to me- there are people who speak at that time, and move and stuff…so fucking wild. Anyway, after having experienced such an hour I can safely confirm that I am still, not a morning person.

Aswan. The temples there are magnificent. The walk to the temples and back, not so magical. Between the heat and the incline, I felt like I was on a stair-stepper in a sauna. Aside from my almost near death via heatstroke and muscle spasm- it was an AWESOME experience!

After having conquered the ancient temples, I was off to the traditional Felucca boat for a cruise down the Nile River, and an overnight stay on the open boat. We stopped at a beaches area and swam, in the Nile. I swam, IN THE NILE RIVER. What a day already and it was only mid afternoon. That waking up in the middle of the night or what some strange people may call ‘early morning’, certainly has some benefit…I suppose. After the swim we took off down the Nile again and sailed until sunset. At that point we found a beached area along the bank to ‘park’. Dinner was prepared and we walked a plank off the boat onto land. There we had a bonfire and traditional Nubian food, song, and dance. I clapped, and moved my feet in sort of a two step fashion, I think that counts. After our party we planked it back onto the boat for a giant sleepover under the night sky filled with stars. I’m currently on that sleepover telling you all about it, because I can’t sleep. Well, it’s ‘morning’, although it’s dark and cold and nothing about 5AM screams it’s time to get up. But alas… up and off the boat to the bus for the 7 hour journey to Luxor!

…UNSCHEDULED SCHEDULE INTERRUPTION…
Our bus has broken down. I repeat, the shit is broke. We are currently stranded on the side of a road in the middle of nowhere between Aswan and Luxor. We are told it’s not fixable and another bus is being sent from Aswan to get us and bring us the rest of the way to Luxor. We are not permitted off of the bus because it’s allegedly not safe. I’m bored, and borderline hangry.
UPDATE: I got off the bus.
UPDATE: I got in trouble for getting off the bus.
UPDATE: I’m back on the bus.
UPDATE: The new bus has arrived and we are ready to continue the trip to Luxor, which is still another 4 hours away.
…WE MADE IT TO LUXOR!
Stopped at the Luxor temple, holy shit it’s ginormous!
Tomorrow is another early rise because I am going on a sunrise HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE!
